WalkMe UK Limited Modern Slavery Statement 2019
This statement has been published in accordance with S54 of the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps taken by WalkMe UK Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, during the year ended 31 December 2019 to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in its business and any of its supply chains.
Introduction
Slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking (Modern Slavery) are global and growing issues. These have come to prominence given the rapid rise in global migration that exists in every region in the world and in all economies, whether industrialised or developing. They impact all sectors and industries. The WalkMe Group, including WalkMe UK Limited, has a zero tolerance approach to Modern Slavery within our own operations and our supply chains. All stakeholders in our business and supply chain have a responsibility to be alert to these risks, however small. Whenever our staff have any concerns about issues at work they are encouraged to speak to their human resources business partner.
Our business and supply chains
WalkMe Limited is an Israeli privately held group, which was founded in 2011 as a guidance and navigation tool and has since grown into a group that provides a Digital Adoption Platform to identify and engage users across platforms and devices. As at the date of this statement, WalkMe Limited owned companies in the UK, US, Australia, Singapore and Japan (together ‘the WalkMe Group’). The principal first tier suppliers of our group companies comprise mostly software providers. As a result of being in the technology industry our supply chains are wide, deep and global, numbering hundreds of suppliers covering electronics, recruitment agents and property landlords. Whilst we currently source the majority of our products directly from countries that are not deemed at high risk of Modern Slavery, we recognise that there is a wider risk of modern slavery in the lower tiers of our supply chain and from our smaller suppliers.
Policies
The WalkMe Group’s internal policies regarding employee behaviour are set out in our group  Code of Conduct which applies to WalkMe UK Limited. Whilst our specific policy as regards Modern Slavery is still in development, our group Code of Conduct covers related human rights areas such as discrimination and harassment. Specifically, we state that the WalkMe Group does not permit or tolerate any form of discrimination and/or harassment based on an individual’s age, race, religious creed, colour, national origin, ancestry, mental or physical disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status and partnership status, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and/or related medical conditions), gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, national origin (including language use restrictions) or any other status protected by federal, state, or local laws. All forms of harassment and/or discrimination of, or by, employees, applicants, unpaid interns, volunteers, vendors, visitors, customers, and clients are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.
Our recruitment policy requires that the WalkMe Group only uses reputable employment agencies to source labour and always verifies the practices of any new agency it is using before accepting workers from that agency.
We also introduced a Whistleblowing Policy, aimed at our employees which encourages team members to report any wrongdoing which they believe is ‘in the public interest’. We hope that if any of our team were to identify any cases or suspicions of Modern Slavery, that these would be reported pursuant to our Whistleblowing Policy. All reports are fully investigated and appropriate remedial actions taken.  .
Due Diligence and Risks
Before a supplier can enter into a contractual relationship with the WalkMe Group, they need to undergo a take-on assessment. Currently, we haven’t specifically identified Modern Slavery as a key risk area but going forward we will be looking at introducing questions in this respect. We are also looking at introducing specific clauses into contracts which give us the right to audit suppliers so that we can assess the accuracy of the data that they provide. In order to identify and mitigate modern slavery and human trafficking risks, the WalkMe group is looking at introducing a risk-based approach.  This will result in identification and assessment of potential risk areas in the WalkMe Group’s business and supply chains and lead to us introducing appropriate mitigating procedures, including monitoring, to minimise the likelihood of modern slavery and human trafficking arising.
Modern Slavery Training
Within the WalkMe Group, we endeavour to provide sufficient training to enable our team to undertake their roles to the best of their abilities. Since the recognition by various countries that Modern Slavery is a risk within business, we are looking to develop training and capacity building to our team. Consequently, we are looking at developing and introducing a form of on-boarding e-learning that not only informs our new team members of the different forms that modern slavery can take, but how to act if there are suspicions.
Next steps to prevent Modern Slavery in our supply chain
Our team is committed to take forward our commitment to eradicate modern slavery in our supply chains. To do this we will embark on the following programme over the coming years and update as to progress in our subsequent Modern Slavery statements:
- Focus on introducing appropriate policies and processes in our parent company and through all of our subsidiaries including WalkMe UK Limited;
- Introduce a risk-based approach to identify and assess potential risk areas in the WalkMe Group’s business and supply chains.
- Introduce a Modern Slavery clause within our supplier contracts, including the right to audit;
- Prepare a supplier code of conduct which sets out our expectations of suppliers if they wish to work with the WalkMe Group.
- Introduce an on-boarding e-learning training that is available to all team members of the WalkMe Group so that they can better understand the risks of Modern Slavery within our business;
We are committed to improving our understanding and management of modern slavery risks over time. We expect our approach to managing the risk of modern slavery to continue to evolve as we learn from the actions that we have set out above.
